  1. Registering with the state of Maryland couldn’t be easier. You simply need to register with the Comptroller of Maryland to receive both your Employer Account Number for unemployment tax and your Central Registration Number for income tax withholdings.

You’ll receive your Central Registration Number within about 7 days of registering online. Once you’ve received both your Central Registration Number and your Employer Account Number, you’ll be able to register new employees, file wage reports, and submit unemployment taxes online. In Maryland, employment is defined as any service performed for remuneration (payment) whether full-time or part-time; this includes domestic workers and agricultural employees, as well.
